The Control of Asbestos Regulations came into effect on the 13th November 2006. As a result the removal of Artex will now, in the majority of cases, be a non-licensable activity. The relaxation in legislation relating to Artex will not only make removals easier but will also lead to a reduction in removal costs. Accolade Asbestos Services Ltd are able to offer competitive rates for the removal of Artex in addition to other non-licensable asbestos containing materials (ACM’s).
Often, the need to safely remove ACM’s from premises can cause a delay to ongoing works. Our rapid sampling service, combined with removal and disposal capabilities helps minimise disruption to the project/tenant. We will ensure that the disposal is processed with care and in line with legal requirements, providing a method statement and evidence of legal disposal. Legislation still controls work with Artex and contractors need to know the following: - Artex suspected of containing asbestos still needs to analysed by a UKAS accredited laboratory
- The removal contractor must hold insurances to permit work with ACM’s to be undertaken
- Appropriate PPE and RPE together with a suitable enclosure are all needed to ensure compliance
- The removed Artex must be disposed of at a licensed site by an operator with a carriage license
